Passionist Family Groups

Passionist Family Groups have been active in the Parish for over 30 years and create a welcoming and supportive environment, where people come together to build friendship, strengthen family life, and grow in faith. Inspired by the spirituality of the Passionists, the groups recognise the importance of sharing life with one another, especially during times of joy, difficulty, celebration, and change.

Each group usually brings together families and individuals of different ages and backgrounds. The motto for family groups is “A Family For All”, so children, young people, single adults, couples and non church going partners are all welcomed and included. Groups normally have between 10 to 15 family units, and gather once a month in a relaxed setting, often sharing a meal, conversation, and fellowship. The emphasis is on building relationships, so the groups are about “being” rather than “doing”.

A key strength of Passionist Family Groups is that everyone is valued and encouraged to participate. Members have opportunities to listen to one another, share their experiences, support those facing challenges, and celebrate important moments together.

Through these relationships, Passionist Family Groups help people to live out the Gospel in practical ways. They encourage compassion, hospitality, acceptance, and care for others. The groups can become a source of strength and encouragement, particularly for people who may feel isolated or are experiencing difficult times.

Ultimately, Passionist Family Groups are about building a stronger community through friendship, faith, and mutual support. They remind us that we do not have to journey through life alone. By sharing our lives and supporting one another, we can create a caring community where everyone feels welcomed, respected, and valued.

What can I give to a Family Group? Yourself! You can give your heart, your time, your friendship.
