Justice and Peace

Turning Catholic social teaching into action — for people and for our common home.

Catholic social teaching

Faith into action

The Justice and Peace group’s goal is to use Catholic social teaching to turn our faith into action.

Caritas is the bishops’ agency for Justice and Peace in New Zealand. We rely on their resources for events like Lent reflection, Social Justice Week, World Day of the Poor, Advent reflection, and more.

We get together to read and reflect on documents such as Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ encyclical on care for our common home, and Dilexit Nos, on love of the poor.

We also organise regular prayer services for peace.

We use the parish bulletin and occasional gatherings to help inform parishioners about Catholic social teaching and how we might live out this teaching in our daily lives.

We are currently running the CommonGrace Aotearoa “Thriving in this land” series.

Come and reflect with us
